Qt es un marco de aplicación C++ multiplataforma que se utiliza para desarrollar software de aplicación con una interfaz gráfica de usuario (GUI), y también se utiliza para desarrollar programas no GUI como herramientas de línea de comandos y consolas para servidores. to work with the qt-creator is like making one step forward and two steps back – very hard to handle, awful GUI and where are the scrollbars in the UI? I had to change the settings in my system preferences to make them stay visible.

I thought about using Qt for a new app of mine so I had a look at their website. Please correct me if I'm wrong but if I get this right then Qt is free only for open source (GPL v3 and LGPL v2.1) projects but if you want to sell your software then it is a MONTHLY $399 subscription?

Netbeans & Eclipse focus on cross platform applications based on Java. And, I've used both for Java application development.
However, Java is not available in such places as iOS.
This summer, I discovered the Qt for iOS Preview starting with the Qt 5.1 release. As examples, Qt based applications 'SubAttack' and 'QtQuicksand' were available free in Apple iTunes App Store.
I have also found the Qt5 to be a useful IDE for even generic, class console based C/C++ applications. GUI applications were reasonably easy to create with the help for community YouTube tutorials.
The Qt has worked well for applications with serial connections to the Arduino.
So, I currently use Qt Creator as my primary C/C++ IDE and Qt Library as my preferred cross platform toolkit.

Definitely the best cross-platform C++ framework ever! Good C++ knowledge and a few Qt extensions is enough to create excellent, professional looking GUI applications, with a look and feel typical for the operating system used. The installation is clean and easy. On the Mac, Objective-C programming skills are not needed at all. With a Qt-Creator one can design and create GUI in minutes. Of course, the same can be created "by hand" from scratch. Qt is based on a "signals-slots" concept, similar to the "sender-receiver" used in OSX. It is easy to learn, the application examples and the on-line documentation are very helpful. Qt is free for non commercial use, so one can learn it as long as needed.
Important - on the Mac, the newest version of XCode (with Command Line Tools) must be installed.
I am not connected with Digia Inc. (the current owner of Qt) in any way - I have just used it for over 2 years and I am excited about all its features.
